Overview:

Before joining NTD in 2011, Dr. Ou had been working at Institute of Materia Medica, CAMS & PUMC and was in charge of a natural medicine modification project.  Dr. Ou’s practice in NTD includes patent drafting, patent prosecution and reexamination, patent invalidation, freedom-to-operate (FTO) search and analysis, and plant variety right application.  He has represented clients in hundreds of patent prosecution and reexamination cases.

Dr. Ou is especially experienced in patent mining and drafting as well as filing strategy advising.  He is highly praised by domestic clients including biotech companies and research institutes for his early involvement and closely working together with clients.  He has drafted quite a number of key patent applications for domestic clients and helps them procure patent rights in and outside China.  With his comprehensive knowledge in life sciences and strong expertise in IP practice, Dr. Ou has successfully handled quite a few complicated patent applications transferred to NTD by clients from other IP law firms.  As a member of patent search team of NTD life sciences and chemistry group, Dr. Ou is experienced in FTO search and analysis, and has provided FTO service for some multinational corporations.  Dr. Ou also handles plant variety right applications in China.
