Overview:

Iris Wang joined NTD in 2008 and started her profession in intellectual property, focusing on the area of  IP civil and administrative litigation, corporate IP strategy consulting, review of IP and commercial contracts, application and recognition of well-known trademark brands, domestic and international IP portfolio management for enterprises, as well as negotiation of trademark and copyright transfers and customs protection (recordation, seizure, etc.). During his tenure at NTD, a copyright case represented by Iris in 2023 that was designated as a joint supervision case by seven ministries, including the Ministry of Public Security and the Copyright Administration of the Central Propaganda Department. The case was successfully recognized as one of the "Top 10 Intellectual Property Typical Cases of 2023" by the Beijing Xicheng District Lawyers Association, as well as the "2024 Golden Shield Cases for IP Protection of Domestic and Foreign Enterprises" jointly recognized by Xinhua Net and the Capital Intellectual Property Services Association. In the process of providing legal services to the clients, Iris has accumulated a wealth of experience, and her good professional knowledge and meticulous services enable her to gain recognition from the clients.

Representative cases:

• Representative of Beijing Huayue Education Technology Co., Ltd. in a criminal case of copyright infringement involving the cross-provincial sale of pirated books, jointly supervised by six ministries and successfully selected as one of the top ten intellectual property typical cases by the Xicheng District Bar Association of Beijing in 2023, as well as the "2024 Golden Shield Cases for IP Protection of Domestic and Foreign Enterprises" jointly recognized by Xinhua Net and the Capital Intellectual Property Services Association.

• Represented a leading domestic wireless-data-radio manufacturer in the second-instance administrative litigation of a trademark cancellation review. By breaking away from conventional evidence strategies and pioneering a “live-demon­stration” model, secured a full reversal, saving the client’s 20-year-old flagship brand from cancellation and earning a commendation plaque and written praise from the client.

• Representative of Safe Skies LLC. in handling an arbitration case with a company in Dongguan, and successfully won more than 1 million yuan of liquidated damages.

• Representative of a well-known Japanese artist Takashi Murakami in the copyright infringement case and successfully obtained the compensation about RMB 1 million through non-litigation methods including investigation and negotiation;

• Representative of a well-known domestic writer in a dispute over online infringement liability, achieving victory and successfully safeguarding the client's legitimate rights and interests.

• Represented a well-known domestic apparel enterprise in handling a large number of trademark acquisition, confirmation, and enforcement cases. For example, in six opposition cases filed by the rights holder against the enterprise's trademarks based on the cross-class protection of well-known trademarks, five of the six opposition cases were successfully won. Additionally, in responding to the client's fourth trademark examination opinion, the risk of the client's 45 trademark applications being deemed malicious registrations was successfully eliminated.

• Represented well-known domestic enterprises in trademark portfolio planning, handling disputes arising during the planning process, including reexamination, opposition, invalidation, and cancellation cases, and successfully eliminated the prior registration obstacles of the client's core category trademarks.

• Representative of Peking University in filing an invalidation against a maliciously registered trademark，after the trademark was successfully invalidated, forced the squatter settle with the client on the series of trademarks squatted.

• Representative of Ruibiao Enterprise Management (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. in a sales contract dispute with a well-known domestic e-commerce company， and sucessfully persuade the court to support our claim for triple compensation.
