According to the latest statistics, SIPO received a total of 64,809 patent applications filed electronic-filing system (hereinafter referred as the E-filing system) in 2009, accounting for 7% of all the applications received in 2009, three times as much as that filed in 2008.
The patent e-filing system was launched in the year of 2004 and was constantly revised and improved by SIPO so that the clients’ terminal and the SIPO terminal could be better complied. Numerous efforts have been done by SIPO to improve the e-filing efficiency and meet the needs of the applicants. In addition to the e-filing receipt, the SIPO also issues the notification of filing receipt and notification for payment of fees which was originally sent to applicants in paper. The agency is no longer required to submit electronic power of attorney. Only original power of attorney is required.
