Recently, Microsoft Company released the campaign against pirated software in China. In November, Microsoft carried out activities to combat pirated software through cooperation with the enforcement agencies in Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'an, Chengdu, Chongqing and Taiyuan. Lots of pirated software were seized and two Chinese merchants were sued for pre-installment and sale of pirated software.
The campaign is targeted at those who sell and install pirated software. Furthermore, Microsoft also improved activation process of its latest product Windows 7 to protect rights and interests of consumers. In order to achieve long-term effects, Microsoft popularized education to Chinese youth on IP protection and carried out related activities to local teachers and students in Beijing, Tianjin and Chengdu.
The activities of this year were defined as "consumers' action day", which was a result of 150,000 cases of complaints about pirated software, a signal showing that users of Microsoft products are active in protecting themselves from the infringements of pirated software.
