It is recently learnt from the 3rd Trademark Festival that China will start the 3rd revision of the Trademark Law.
According to the senior official from the Chinese Trademark Office, China started to implement the Trademark Law in 1982 and has established a comparatively complete legal system for trademarks. In spite of the 2 revisions of the trademark law, some articles of the current trademark law can not meet the needs of the current economic development and has yet to be further improved.
Currently, there are four critical issues needed to be addressed: over-complicated procedure in approving trademark registration, credibility and honesty, punitive measures against trademark infringement, convenience for concerned parties.
It is said that the 3rd revision was first initiated in the year of 2004. Several workshops and research study were already done. The revision is aimed at the international standards for trademark protection.
