Recently, General Administration of Custom released the report of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) protection in China. According to the report, the customs offices across China seized suspected infringing goods worthy of 207 million Renminbi yuan.
It has been one of the key functions of the customs in China to protect the IP, and China is one of a few countries which protect IPR in export. This has created positive results in fighting against IPR infringement activities, maintaining a fair competition order of foreign trade, and creating favorable investment environment. Since 2000, the increasing rate of infringing cases investigated by customs across the country keeps at 30% or more; Up to now, the record and registration of IPR received by customs are over 22,000 and 3300 were newly added from January to October in 2009, an increase of nearly 12% compared with the same period last year. In the first 3 quarters of 2009, 43,481 cases of suspected infringing goods were seized by customs, involving 34 million pieces of infringing products, worthy around 207 million Renminbi yuan.
