According to the Intellectual Property Office of Chongqing Municipality, the patent application fees will be reduced for those enterprises in difficulty and those individuals whose annual income is less than 25,000 Renminbi yuan. To be specific, a reduction of 70% to 85% percent will be provided.
In recent years, the patent applications in Chongqing are increasing year by year. In 2008, the patent application reached 8000, and the number of the patent applications for the first 8 month this year is 58.8% increase than that in the same period last year. Because of this, Chongqing issued "Measures on Funding Patent " and provides that any first applicant (individual or entity) who resides in Chongqing shall be funded according to their actual application fee. Additional 1000—2000 renminbi yuan shall be funded to those who obtain patents.
It is learnt that in the future, Chongqing government will focus the funding on the granted patents and promote the application and commercialization of patents.
