Up to September 2009, the applications for trademark registrations in China exceeded 1 million, and the total number of trademark applications in 9 months reached 1,.005 million. China therefore became the largest country in terms of the number of trademark applications, the applications being examined and valid registered trademarks.
It is learnt that the Trademark Office of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC) spent 8 and a half months in 2009 and finished the workload of 3 year and 3 months, up 153%, and over 98% of the examined trademarks applications met the quality standard. This is an indication that China's ability in trademark examination increased significantly and can meet the requirements of the social and economic development.
