According to the high officials from the General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP) and the National Copyright Office, Chinese government has attached great importance to copyright protection for software and will continue its effort in promoting the protection of software copyright. China is also willing to cooperate with organizations such as BSA to improve the level of the creation, use, protection and management of software copyright.
In recent years, China has done a lot of work to promote the protection for software copyright. Examples are legalization of software used by the government at different levels, initiation of legalization of using software by industries, establishment of the joint meeting mechanism among 9 governmental departments including Ministry of Information and Industry and Ministry of Commerce. It is expected that efforts will be done in the foreign funded and private-owned industries in using the legalized software.
In addition, copyright administrations at all levels will reinforce their measures in fighting against the pirated software. The copyright holders are welcome to report any piracy case to the competent agencies.
It is also leant that the Chinese government is expanding its efforts to the extent that primary school students are educated to respect the copyright and use the legal software.
