According to Yiwu Customs, the newly opened office in Yiwu, 1.04 million pieces of infringing products were seized with a value of 4.7 million Renminbi yuan. The products cover the brands such as Nike, Sony, Nokia, Philips, etc.
This was the result of the establishment of the IP Division within the YIwu Customs Office. Yiwu is known as the biggest distributing center for small commodities all over the world. In order to protect the legal rights of the IP right-holders, Yiwu formulated a series of measures and developed a system for the management of storage of infringing products. This can help monitor the goods in storage through internal network and establish a comprehensive system for monitoring IP.
Additionally, Yiwu customs took an active role in studying the changes of infringement and in observing the export areas and goods with potential infringement.
In the end of August, Yiwu seized 100 thousands pieces of fake Nokia batteries with a value of 2 million Renminbi yuan in the container which would be shipped to Republic of the Sudan.
