In order to implement the Outline of the National Intellectual Property Strategy, strengthen the action against online piracy, and clean the network environment, the National Copyright Administration, Ministry of Public Security and Ministry of Industry and Information Technology jointly released a notice for a 4-month Special Campaign against Online Piracy (hereafter referred to the Notice). This is the fifth time by the three departments to carry out such action against online piracy since 2005 and the longest one.
According to the Notice, the Special Champaign will use the measures of both regulating the legal web sites and combating illegal ones. It will regulate the internet enterprises and their acts of using works on the internet. Active supervision will be done towards key Internet enterprises and websites in different regions. Active inspections will also be taken towards the use of works in online movies, literature sites, online news. It is hoped that legal awareness of “no spreading without authorization” should be well rooted in the internet enterprises to stop the online piracy at the very beginning.
During the Special Campaign, the three departments will work together to have major cases investigated and resolved, and set up a united group to inspect and supervise key areas and enterprises to achieve the expected goal of the Notice.
