In order to carry out National IPR Strategy Outline and boost the Implementation of National Trademark Strategy, the industry and commerce administrations at all levels tried best to create a favorable environment for enterprises to cope with financial crisis and to encourage the innovation. One aspect was to reinforce the recognition and protection of well-known and famous trademarks. In the first half of 2009, the State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC) identified 390 well-known trademarks in trademark administration, opposition and disputes. Up to now, a total of 1,624 well-known trademarks have been identified. In terms of protection for famous marks, 30 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities have worked out local regulations and rules to identify and protect famous trademarks.
