Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) announced the 2009 list of top100 enterprises in the electronic information area. Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd.(hereinafter Huawei) ranked the first with yearly revenue of 122.7 billions RMB yuan, Haier Group Co.(hereinafter Haier) and Legend Holdings Ltd.(hereinafter Legend) ranked the second and third respectively.
According to the statistics of MIIT, the total revenue of the top 100 enterprises is 1119.4 billions RMB yuan, accounting for 18% of the whole industry. There are 23 enterprises whose revenue exceeded 10 billion RMB yuan. Each of the 3 companies, Huawei, Haier and Legend, exceeded 100 billion RMB yuan in terms of the revenue.
It is learnt that the main feature of the top 100 enterprises is their ability in research and development. The statistics show that 3.5% of their revenue is used for R&D activities. The average is 1%. Huawei is the number one company which invested more than 40 billion RMB in R&D.
In terms of the patent applications, the top 100 enterprises obtained more than 40,000 patents, and 1/4 of them are patents for inventions. Of the top 10 companies in filing patent applications, Huawei ranked the first and Zhongxing ranked the second.
