Recently, Beijing 2nd Intermediate People’s Court was designated as the major contact base for national patent protection. A total of 6 entities were selected in Beijing by Beijing Intellectual Property Office and approved by the State Intellecutal Property Office as contact base for national patent protection.
The purpose of the mechanism is to fully utilize social resources to improve the enforcement level of patent enforcement across China. The State Intellectual Property Office issued in April 2009 Notice on Arrangement of Enforcement by IP Offices across China which requires local IP offices to recommend judicial or administrative agencies, research institutes, patent agencies as the key contact base for patent protection. In addition, other mechanisms are also required to be established such as information exchange mechanism, research mechanism and training mechanism.
