    NTD Events | Christopher Shen, Senior Partner of NTD, to Speak at INTA 2025 Annual Meeting

    Christopher Shen, senior partner of NTD Intellectual Property Attorneys (NTD), will once again lead the NTD attorney team to attend the INTA 2025 Annual Meeting in San Diego, USA, on May 19th. At the "Chinese Case Law" seminar within the China- themed series of events, he will engage in an in-depth discussion with industry peers on the topic of "Exploring the Mutual Influence between Trademark Law Amendments and Practice".

     

    As a legal expert in intellectual property, Mr. Shen served as the Co-Chair of the INTA China Global Advisory Council from 2020-2021. He has long been deeply involved in the field of trademark law and has participated in the INTA Annual Meeting's Chinese Case Law seminars as a speaker on multiple occasions. His professional insights have received extensive attention in the international intellectual property community. During this seminar, Mr. Shen will analyze the latest trends in compensation basis and criminal incidental civil litigation in combination with classic cases.

    Thematic Seminar: Trademark Cases Paving New Paths - Exploring the Mutual Influence between Trademark Law Amendments and Practice

    Highlights: This seminar invites Chinese trademark law experts to share and interpret the characteristics presented by the latest examination practices and case judgments:

    - stricter review standards for absolute-ground examinations and requirements for trademark use intentions;

    - enhanced protection for well-known trademarks, the current situation of trademark co-existence agreements, and the expansion of the scope of protection for prior rights;

    - the legal application of malicious factors in the protection of well-known trademarks, trade dress, as well as in rights conflicts and trademark squatting;

    - the legitimate use of descriptive terms and the act of scratching codes in the context of exhaustion of rights;

    - stringent application of the calculation methods for damage compensation basis, and continuous exploration of the scope of compensation in criminal incidental civil litigation.

    Christopher Shen, NTD Senior Partner, Attorney-at-Law and Trademark Attorney. Christopher Shen joined NTD after graduating from Renmin University of China in 1998 and started his profession in intellectual property. Afterwards, Mr. Shen received advanced education in the United States and earned a LL.M. degree in Intellectual Property Law from the George Washington University Law School. Mr. Shen has been qualified to practice law in both China and New York State since 2000 and 2005 respectively.

     

    Mr. Shen concentrates his practice in IP strategy counseling, foreign-related IP litigation and administrative enforcement. Mr. Shen has nearly 30 years of experience in representing many famous domestic and foreign companies in lawsuits and arbitrations with respect to patent, trademark, copyright and unfair competition disputes. Mr. Shen also has been invited to attend International IP Symposiums many times to deliver speeches in respect of China IP Protection and has been establishing extensive connections with foreign IP attorneys.

     

    Mr. Shen has received numerous honors during his career, such as WIPR Leaders 2024, WIPR Insights Trademarks Rankings 2023 (China) Senior Statesperson and Outstanding Individual on Contentious field, WTR 1000 Recommended Individual every year from 2019 to 2024, Trade Mark Star every year from 2022 to 2023 by IP STARS, Thought Leader (individuals who have performed especially well, around 25-30% of listed practitioners) on Trademarks in China by Who's Who Legal every Year from 2009 to 2024, Top 100 IP Experts (China) every year from 2021 to 2022, the Directory of National Overseas Intellectual Property Dispute Response and Guidance Experts issued by CNIPA In 2019, Top 50 IP Leading Individuals 2018-2019 by IPLEAD and IPR Daily.
