To strengthen the management of software products and promote the development of China's software industry, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released the "Measures on the management of Software Products" in March, which is to be effective on April 10, 2009. The measures are formulated to follow relevant laws and administrative regulations as well as the "Policies regarding the Development of Software Industry and IC Industry" by the State Council.
The Measures make clear provisions on software products registration, production, marketing and supervision. According to the measures, domestic software products may enjoy preferential industrial policies if they comply with the regulations and have been registered and recorded. Imported software may also enjoy the preferential policies if the followings are satisfied: localization of the product development and production, proof of the product being developed in China, registration and record.
