The statistics show that administrations for industry and commerce across China investigated 56,634 illegal cases relating to trademark in 2008, an increase of 6,316 over the previous year. Of all the cases, 45,492 are domestic cases and 11,142 foreign-related cases. This is a result of the implementation of national strategy and efforts done by administrations for industry and commerce at all levels. In addition to the actions against the trademark infringement, significant achievement has been made in protecting Olympic symbols, trademarks of agricultural products, geographical indications, well-known marks and foreign marks.
