Recently, Shanghai 1st Intermediate People’s court heard the case in which Louis Vuitton Malletier (LV) sued Shanghai Zhongwen Trade Co.,Ltd.,(hereafter called Zhongwen Co.) for selling counterfeited goods of LV.
In its claim, LV alleged that the owners of the store named Lin and Wu were selling goods bearing counterfeit LV marks. LV wanted the court to order to Zhongwen Co to stop selling products bearing its registered trademark and claims financial compensation of one million yuan Renminbi.
According to the record, Lin and his business partners started selling counterfeit international brand products in 2001. The company was established to hide their illegal deeds. From September, 2002 to April, 2004, Lin, Wu and their company were punished by the police and the business administration department. However, they continued the illegal act for large profits. They were once sentenced to 5-month imprison due to the illegal acts of selling goods bearing counterfeited.trademarks.
On August 2, 2008, police found more than 200 leather products, watches and clothes under the international luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Chanel among others at a store here owned by Zhongwen Co.. The products were estimated to be worth some 1.22 million yuan Renminbi.
