According to China Copyright Protection Center, China's computer software registration continued to maintain a rapid growth in 2008. The total number of copyright registration reached 49,087, up 91.25 percent compared with 2007.
Among that, the software registration amounted to 47,398, an increase of 93.3% over the previous year. In addition, there were 144 registrations of software transfer and license, 109 registrations of software pledge and 1,436 alteration registrations. In accordance with the software registration statistics, the top 5 provinces for software registration were Beijing, Guangdong, Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang. Beijing still ranked the first and Liaoning had the largest increase.
