According to Administrative Committee of Zhongguancun Science and Technology Zone, more than 13,000 patent applications were filed by the high-tech enterprises in Zhongguancun Zone, an increase of 92% over the the year of 2007.
Though the finance crisis was internationally spreading in 2008, the independent innovative ability continued to increase in Zhongguancun and a series of great creative achievements provided support to national strategies. In 2008, the Intelligent Grouping and Resource Sharing Standard (i.e. IGRS Standard) became the international standard in 3C field; the document read-write joint standard became the first international standard in software industry in China. Zhongguancun also witnessed the development of the first lamp-house system in the world used in digital laser bioscopes. In 2008, the enterprises in Zhongguancun also provided technical support and products in telecommunications, test and materials for the launch of Shenzhou-7. Other technical services were satellite images and mobile telecommunications for Wenchuan earthquake and relief work, and more than 100 independent innovative products for Beijing Olympic Games.
