It was learnt from the State Intellectual Property Office, due to the implementation of IPR strategy, the patent awareness of Chinese enterprises has been strengthened and the creation and utilization of patent has been upgraded. There are quite a number of leading enterprises with strong competitiveness.
The statistics show that, in 2008, there was an obvious increase of patent applications filed by domestic enterprises. The average number of patent applications by one individual enterprise was clearly high as compared to the previous year. There were more and more enterprises with more than 100 applications. For example, in 2007, only 290 enterprises filed over 100 patent applications, but in 2008, there were 420 enterprises.
Besides, service applications took the majority of the total applications for the first time. Nevertheless, in the past, the majority of patent applications were non-service applications.
