    Commissioner Shen Changyu had a video conference with Mr. Vuttikrai Leewiraphan, Director General of Department of Intellectual Property of Thailand

    On March 1st, 2021, Mr. Shen Changyu, Commissioner of China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) had a video conference with Mr. Vuttikrai Leewiraphan, Director General of Department of Intellectual Property of Ministry of Commerce of Thailand. In the meeting, they signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Intellectual Property Cooperation between China National Intellectual Property Administration and Department of Intellectual Property of Thailand, after the introduction of the latest work and the further plan of both sides. The Memorandum has integrated the cooperative agreements in multiple IP areas, covering patent, trademark, design, layout designs of integrated circuits and geographical indications. A general framework of the cooperation has been built up. 


    Commissioner Shen Changyu said that China and Thailand have long sustained cooperative relationship in IP areas, like trademarks and geographical indications, and interacted for many times due to the Belt and Road Initiative and the China-ASEAN IPR Cooperation. Moreover, the Memorandum will enhance the mutual understanding and further cooperation to promote the economic development of China and Thailand, boosting the vitality of Southeast Asia.


    Director General Vuttikrai Leewiraphan also stressed that China has always been one of the most important trading partner to Thailand. Since China has made remarkable achievements on IP work, and created a good ecological environment for IPR protection, Thailand can learn a lot from its valuable experience. He is expecting that the two nations further work together to produce more positive outcomes on intellectual property to drive the economic development.
