On January 12th, IFI CLAIMS Patent Services, a world-leading IP database, released the 2020 Statistical Data of PTO Grant Patents. According to the data, the number of granted patents reached 352, 013, a 1% year-on-year decrease.
2020 Global Top 50 Enterprises for Patents has been issued. IBM had 9, 130 granted patents, a 1% year-on-year decrease, but also ranked top 1 for consecutive 28 years. Samsung Electronics ranked 2nd place with 6, 415 granted patents, less than that of 2019 (6, 469). Canon ranked 3rd place with 3, 225 granted patents, less than that of 2019 (3, 548).
Top 10 enterprises are: Microsoft (2, 905), Intel (2, 867), Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (2, 833), LG (2, 831), Apple (2, 792), Huawei (2, 761) and Qualcomm (2,276).
Amazon ranked 11th place with 2,244 granted patents; BOE ranked 13rd place with 2,144 granted patents; Google ranked 17th place with 1, 817 granted patents; Facebook ranked 38th place with 938 granted patents; Hewlett-Packard ranked 44th place with 873 granted patents; Dell ranked 45th place with 849 granted patents.
