CNIPA: Improve Opening-up of Patent Data and Optimize Services

    11/19/2019|INSIGHTS

Source: China Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA)

The China Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) will further optimize its services by improving opening-up of patent data, in favor of meeting the needs of the public and the innovation subjects and facilitating the public to acquire data. This will also be beneficial to enhance the official IP services and improve conditions for IP innovations.

From the date of November 20, 2019, CNIPA’s Testing System for Patent Data Services (http://patdata.cnipa.gov.cn, hereinafter referred to as “Testing System”) will be newly added with five types of data, i.e., Standardized Data on Legal Status of Chinese Patents for Invention, Standardized Data on Legal Status of Chinese Patents for Utility Model, Standardized Data on Legal Status of Chinese Patents for Design, Data on Decisions of Chinese Patent Reexaminations and Data on Decisions of Chinese Patent Invalidations. The types of data available for the public to download are increased to thirty-four (see Catalogue of Data Resources). Meanwhile, the Testing System is also improved by doubling download bandwidth, increasing download speed, simplifying registration and application procedures for users, and replacing papery agreements with electronic ones (see Procedure of Data Service and Agreement of Data Usage).
