On May 25, 2019, Mr. Shen Changyu, commissioner of the National Intellectual Property Administration of China, said on the Opening of 15th China (Wuxi) International Design Expo, that China is negotiating with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) on China’s joining of the Hague Agreement. It is more convenient for the Chinese enterprises to protect their designs around the world, so the “Sino-Creation”, the “Sino-Design”, and the “Made in China” can better integrate into the international market.

Hague Agreement, short for Hague Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Industrial Designs, administrated by WIPO, includes 70 contracting parties. The Hague Agreement allows applicants from the contracting parties to file a single application with the International Bureau of WIPO, enabling applicants to protect their rights in multiple Countries, which is conductive to save cost and time for the contracting parties.
