According to the statistics from SIPO, in the first half of 2017, SIPO received approximately 565,000 patent applications for invention, an increase of 6.1% as compared with the same period of the previous year. Meanwhile, 209,000 invention patents were granted, wherein, 149,000 were service inventions, which accounted for 93.1%.
It is also noted that SIPO received 21,600 PCT international applications, an increase of 16%. During the same period, the number of patent publications in 17 countries along the Belt and Road were 2,174, an increase of 17.8%. India, Russia, Singapore, Vietnam and Poland ranked top 5 regarding the number of patent publications.
