In April of 2017, provinces and cities nationwide held actions to destroy the pirated and illegal publications. A total of 17,300,000 pirated books, video products and e-publications were destroyed, wherein 1,950,000 were destroyed in Beijing.
It is reported that the departments for eliminating pornography and illegal publications have seized over 16,000,000 illegal publications, investigated more than 6,000 related cases, among which, about 600 were criminal cases. According to the statistics, in the first quarter of 2017, 1,515 cases concerning pornography and illegal publications were handled and over 3,700,000 illegal publications were confiscated.
