To better implement national intellectual property strategy, strengthen the exchange and communication with foreigners in intellectual property industry, and have a greater discourse power and influence in international intellectual property, the All-China Patent Attorneys Association(ACPAA) held the 6th China Intellectual Property Symposium in Hangzhou, the capital city of east China's Zhejiang Province, from March 30 to April 1, 2017.
Mr. He Hua, Deputy Director of State Intellectual Property Office, Mr. Zhou Guohui, Director-General of Science and Technology Department of Zhejiang Province, and Mr. Douglas Deeth, president of FICPI, appeared at the opening ceremony. Mr. Cheng Yuechong, Vice Governor of Zhejiang Province and Mr. Yang Wu, president of ACPAA, attended and spoke at the opening ceremony. At the same time, more than 220 experts, scholars and practitioners in intellectual property from over 20 countries and regions, including the United States, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, etc, were also present at this symposium.
In the two-day meeting, 27 guest speakers from multiple countries centered on implementing the innovation-driven development strategy to build a nation with strong IP power, discussed the new development around the following specific themes: Internet and standard patent related IP protection, opportunities and challenges faced patent agencies, new trends of patent judicial protection, trademark practice, examination of computer software related patent application and latest European IP development, and explored the new ideas, thoughts and measures to promote the scientific development of patent agency under the new situation.
Mr. Christopher (Chunxiang) Shen, Vice President of NTD Patent & Trademark Agency Ltd., accepted the commission of ACPAA to participate in the organization of this symposium and presided over the “Trademark Practice” session, during which Mr. Shen made a brief introduction of the overview and contrast statistics in respect of patent and trademark putting on record, administrative enforcement, litigation and compensation, and presided over the links of delivering speeches, asking and discussing questions. Dr. Coleen MORRISON , former chair of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC) Trademark Joint Liaison committee, Dr. Huang Hui, from Wan Hui Da Peksung Group, and Dr. Zhong Ming, from IP House, gave a speech at invitation in this session. Besides, Mr. Nathan Yang, from NTD Patent & Trademark Agency Ltd., was also invited to deliver a speech on the non-conventional trademark application in China in this session, which has received impressive recognition.
