Recently, the Trademark Office of State Administration for Industry and Commerce published the number of trademark applications and registrations applied from different provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities. According to the statistics, the top five provinces concerning trademark applications are Guangdong (689,434), Beijing (372,387), Zhejiang (327,572), Shanghai (257,616) and Jiangsu (209,900). Among these provinces, Zhejiang and Jiangsu respectively exceeded 300,000 and 200,000 for the first time. It is also noted that the top five provinces with valid registrations are Guangdong (2,043,798), Zhejiang (1,315,742), Beijing (893,743), Jiangsu (743,670) and Shanghai (697,251), wherein, Guangdong exceeded 2 million for the first time.
During 2016, a series of reformative measures have been put into practice: 15 trademark application receiving windows were set up, 30 trademark pledge registration acceptance offices were established, and the first trademark examination coordination center outside Beijing was launched in Guangzhou.
