On December 8, the Supreme People’s Court (hereinafter the court) issued the verdict on “乔丹” series trademark cases. In the three cases concerning the mark “乔丹”，the mark has violated Michael Jordan’s right to his name and the Trademark Law. Therefore, the court ruled that the first and second instances should be revoked, and Trademark Review and Adjudication Board was ordered to repeal the brand “乔丹” and issue a new verdict. As for the four cases regarding “QIANDAN”, “qiaodan” and related graphic marks, the court affirmed the second instance, as the mark “qiaodan’ in Chinese pinyin didn’t violated the name right of Michael Jordan, and dismissed Jordan’s appeal for retrial.
