Recently, the Alliance for Anti-piracy of Online Game and Industry Protection (hereinafter the alliance) was established. The alliance, initiated by 15 game companies including Tencent, Our plam Co., Ltd. and Perfect World Co., Ltd., was aimed at combating game piracy and protecting the legitimate rights of legal games.
With the support from the Copyright Union of Internet Society of China, the alliance will carry out work in the following aspects: building green channels among alliance members to simplify complaint process and to form rapid complaint handling mechanism; co-constructing the connective mechanism between trial and mediation; promoting the application of electric evidence to overcome the difficulty in obtaining evidence in legal practice; launching special actions to crack down on game cheating; holding regular workshops to discuss new type of game infringements; regularly releasing report on game infringing cases and annual white paper on intellectual property protection.
It is reported that with the rapid development of online games, the overall income of the industry reached 140.7 billion Yuan in 2015, which accounted for 0.2% of GDP, however, the infringements of game intellectual property should not be underestimated.
