China Customs and U.S. Customs launched joint enforcement actions

    12/5/2016|EVENTS

Recent years, China Customs has been actively promoting the intellectual property cooperation with international customs to crack down on illegal exports, in light of the rise of trade-related intellectual property infringements. By far, China Customs has established cooperative relations with customs administrations of over 130 countries and regions, and signed more than 170 bilateral mutual assistance agreements on intellectual property enforcement.

In March and April, 2016, U.S. Customs and China Customs have jointly carried out two-month-long special actions to fight against infringements in Sino-US trade. Remarkable achievements were made out of these actions. Over 1,400 cases were investigated and more than 2 million commodities were seized. The enforcement action in March focused on the investigation of marketing network of infringing products, with the involvement of U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Shanghai Customs and Guangzhou Customs. The enforcement action in April witnessed the seizure of infringing goods at the ports of both countries.

Thanks to the enforcement cooperation in various forms, China Customs has constantly increased its international influence. In 2016 Special 301 Report, the United States made positive remarks on the joint enforcement actions. China Customs has also been awarded several awards for its efforts in fighting against infringements and counterfeits in recent years.
