At a recent conference, an official from the State Administration for Industry & Commerce said that China will establish the trademark evaluation system and issue the evaluation result hopefully by the end of 2016.
It is reported that by the end of 2015, there are over 12,250,000 accumulated trademark registrations, 18,400,000 accumulated trademark registrations, and 10,340,000 valid trademark registrations in China. The number of accumulated trademark registrations, accumulated applications and valid registrations rank first in the world for the 14th consecutive years.
In spite of the large number of trademark registrations, China is far from being a strong trademark power since there are only 31 Chinese trademarks/brands in the 2015 World’s 500 Most Influential Brands list released by the World Brand Lab.
Currently, there are numerous organizations that provide trademark/brand evaluations in China. The evaluation results of China Trademark Institute are the most authoritative and credible one.
