    China’s copyright registrations continued to increase in 2015

    According to the recent statistics from National Copyright Administration, a total of 1,641,200 copyrights were registered in China in 2015, an increase of 35% as compared with the same period of the previous year. Among all copyright registrations, there were 1,348,200 registrations of works, 292,400 registrations of computer software copyrights, and 606 pledge registrations of copyrights.

    Of all the registrations of works, 44% were done in Beijing, 17% by the Copyright Protection Center of China, and 15% in Shanghai. In terms of the types of registered works, photographic works were of the largest number, accounting for 15%, which were followed by literary works, works of fine art, film and television works, video recordings, graphical works, sound recordings, music works, dramatic works and dancing works.

    In 2015, the number of software registrations approached 300,000, an increase of 33%. The top five ranking cities or provinces were Beijing, Guangdong, Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang.
