    China filed 478 unfair competition cases in the first half of 2016

    According to the statistics from State Administration for Industry and Commerce, industry and commerce administrations in China received a total of 478 unfair competition cases and concluded 118 cases, involving a total value of 270,000,000 Yuan. Among these cases, there were 80 in water supply industry, 32 in power supply industry, 82 in air supply industry, 80 in public transportation, 35 in funeral industry and 169 in other industries.

    In the first half of 2016, the national industry and commerce system enhanced enforcement by focusing on the monopoly behavior of public enterprises, and has launched campaigns against outstanding issues including compulsory transaction and overcharge.

    It is reported that China industry and commerce administrations and market supervision departments investigated 235,000 illegal economic activities, an increase of 2 % compared to the same period of last year, with the value of 2.47 billion Yuan. China also strengthened the supervision of market access, including the compulsory exit mechanism of “zombie enterprises”, and has handled 63,000 cases involving market access. Meanwhile, China further enhanced the strike on unlicensed business, 65,000 cases were investigated, with a total value of 880,000,000. Other actions were carried out to clean up online trademark infringements, sales of fake and commodities, misleading propaganda and click farming during holidays and festivals. A total of 2,876 cases concerning online transaction were investigated, an increase of 79.4%.
