According to the statistics from SIPO, a total of 35,844 cases were handled by patent administrative authorities in 2015, an increase of 46.4% as compared with the previous year. Of all these cases, there are 14,607 patent dispute cases, an increase of 77.7%, and 21,237 patent counterfeit cases, an increase of 30.6%.
In terms of the enforcement cases in provinces and cities, the eastern and the central region respectively handled 18,687 and 5,972 cases, which accounted for over 2/3 of all the cases. The eastern and southeastern region witnessed the fastest growth by 61.8% and 52.3% respectively. Of 31 provinces and cities, 9 provinces handled over 1,000 cases.
It is reported that the ratio of patent dispute cases increased year by year. In 2015, the ratio between patent dispute case and patent counterfeit case is 1:1.45, which is further optimized as compared to that of 2013 and 2014. In 2015, the provincial intellectual property offices took the lead in enforcement by directly handling 8,744 patent dispute cases, an increase of 88.3%.
