Recently, State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television released Several Opinions on Advancing the Development of Music Industry (hereinafter the Opinions), which proposed to push for the third revision of Chinese Copyright Law, so as to promote the orderly development of music industry especially digital music through copyright protection.
It is reported that the third revision is expected to enhance the protection of music works against unauthorized transmission, to explore new business model for network transmission of music works and to realize the legitimate operation of digital music. Meanwhile, China will also strengthen market supervision by cracking down on all various activities of infringement and piracy. The reward mechanism for reporting settling the piracy will also be improved.
According to the Opinions, by the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan, the output of the whole music industry is expected to reach 300 billion RMB. Additionally, China will form a chain of music industry, produce a collection of classical works, and foster new and innovative enterprises.
