Recently, the statistics from SIPO show that in the first three quarters of 2015, SIPO received a total of 1,876,000 applications for three kinds of patents, an increase of 22% as compared to the same period of the previous year, wherein 709,000 are applications for inventions, 779,000 are applications for utility model and 388,000 are applications for designs.
Of all the applications for invention, 610,000 are from domestic applicants, an increase of 24.9%, and 99,000 are from foreign applicants, a growth of 5.1%. With regard to domestic applicants, 492,000 are applications for service invention.
In terms of grant of patents, in the first three quarters, 1,117,600 patents were granted, an increase of 25.8% as compared to the same period of the previous year.
