IP Courts in China received over 10,000 cases

Recently, the statistics from the Supreme People’s Court show that up till August 20, 2015, Beijing IP Court, Shanghai IP Court and Guangzhou IP Court totally received 10,795 cases, wherein 4,160 cases were concluded.

Of all cases, Beijing IP Court received 6,595 cases among which there were 5,622 first instance cases and 973 second instance cases. Of all received cases, administrative cases concerning ownership of patent and trademark rights accounted for more than 3/4. Of all the first instance cases, foreign-related cases took up 39.4%. Beijing IP Court already concluded 2,348 cases.

As for Shanghai IP Court, 1,052 cases were received which included 612 first instance cases and 440 second instance cases. Of all cases, copyright cases accounted for over 50 % and 409 cases were concluded.

Guangzhou IP Court received 3,148 cases among which there were 1,842 first instance cases and 1,306 second instance cases. Patent cases accounted for 53% of the first instance cases. 1,403 cases were concluded by Guangzhou IP Court so far.
