Recently, the statistics from SIPO show that in the first six months of 2015, 10,190 cases were handled by patent administrative agencies, an increase of 107.7% as compared to the same period of the previous year; among which 5,437 were patent dispute cases (including 5,332 cases of patent infringement disputes) and 4,753 were patent counterfeit cases.
Great changes took place in the case structure. The ratio of patent dispute cases to patent counterfeit cases increased to 1.14: 1, in comparison to that of 0.51: 1 in 2014.
In terms of the capability of handling cases, there are 5 provinces which handled over 100 patent dispute cases: Zhejiang, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Shandong and Chongqing. As for the geographical distribution of patent administrative cases, Eastern China was the highest with 5,892 cases, followed by southern and central China (respectively 1,140 and 1,100).
