The statistics from SIPO show that in the first half year of 2015, SIPO totally received 1.124 million applications for three kinds of patents, wherein 424,000 are applications for inventions, an increase of 20.9% as compared to the same period of the previous year, 471,000 applications for utility models and 229,000 for designs.
Of all the applications for invention, 361,000 were from domestic applicants, a growth of 24.6%, and 63,000 were from foreign applicants, an increase of 3.6%. With regard to domestic applications, 291,000 were applications for service invention. In terms of grant of patents, in the first half year, 749,000 patents were granted including patents for invention, utility model and design.
