Recently, State Forestry Administration issued the 2015-2025 Action Plan for the Protection and Sustainable Utilization of Forestry Generic Resources (hereinafter the Action Plan) which put emphasis on enhancing the protection and management of generic resources of forestry plants.
As a basic strategic resource, forestry generic resource is an important guarantee of biodiversity. Chinese government attaches great importance to the protection of forestry generic resources. Since the beginning of this century, China has implemented major projects such as nature reserve construction and wildlife conservation; carried out the collection and preservation of forestry generic resources; and preliminarily established the protection system of forestry generic resources.
The Action Plan is another crucial and effective measure which defined the guiding policy, basic principle, and strategic goal in protection and sustainable utilization of forestry generic resources. In addition, the key focus areas, together with concrete actions and safeguard measures, were determined by the Action Plan.
