Recently, the 2014 Annual Report on Patent Capability Status (hereinafter the Report) was released by SIPO, which provided overall capabilities of patent in supporting the Chinese economy and social development. The Report listed 5 aspects of patent such as creation, utilization, protection, management and service to find out how China social and economic development is effected by patent.
According to the Report, the top 10 places in China for sustainable increase of patent capabilities are Guangdong, Beijing, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shanghai, Sichuan, Tianjin, Shandong, Hunan and Fujian. In terms of creations for patent, the top 3 are Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong; in regard to capabilities for patent utilization, Guangdong, Jiangsu and Beijing ranked top 3; from the aspect of patent protection, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Guangdong are in the top 3 positions; for patent management, the first three are Jiangsu, Guangdong and Sichuan; finally, Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong are among the top 3 for patent services.
