State Council demanded to strengthen IP protection at exhibitions

    6/5/2015|EVENTS

In recent years, China’s exhibition industry has become a significant platform for constructing modern market system and is playing a more important role in social and economic development. Nevertheless, there still exist many problems, such as the slow development of marketization, unreasonable structure, and weak international competition. Under these circumstances, the State Council of China required for streamlining of the administration system. Under the system, a joint conference mechanism is to be established and led by the Ministry of Commerce of the PRC with members of other relevant government departments such as Ministry of Science and Technology, State Administration for Industry and Commerce, General Administration of Customs, State Intellectual Property Office, etc.

It is also required that IP protection should be further enhanced. The provisions for the protection of intellectual property at exhibitions will be revised. Enterprises are encouraged to exploit and use their intangible assets such as name and logo by means of patent applications or trademark registrations.  Further more efforts are to be made against infringement and counterfeit activities. The exhibition plan should include measures of fighting and handling infringement and counterfeit products. A mechanism of receiving and handling is also to be improved.
