On January 21, 2015, Guangzhou Intellectual Property Court started its operation by hearing 3 different cases. Each case was heard by a panel of 3 judges and president and vice president of the court as presiding judges.
There are 4 panels within Guangzhou IP court, docketing division, patent trial division, copyright trial division, trademark and unfair competition trial division. Chief Judges of each division will also hold the position of division directors.
Up until January 20, a total of 539 cases were received, of which 313 were cases of first instance and 226 were cases of second instance.
