The statistics from the State Intellectual Property Office (hereinafter SIPO) show that a total of 928,000 patent applications for inventions were received, an increase of 12.5% over the same period of the previous year. Of all the applications for inventions, 801,000 were filed by domestic applicants and 127,000 were filed by applicants from outside China.
With regard to the granted patents, a total of 233,000 patents were granted in 2014, an increase of 12.3%, of which 163,000 were granted to domestic applicants and 70,000 were grant to foreign applicants.
