As the world’s largest producer of tires, Chinese tire manufacturing enterprises have been frequently blamed for patent infringement of designs of tire tread pattern, and have been in disputes with well-known international tire producers. This problem is expected to be solved by the establishment of the tire tread pattern database.
The database was co-developed by the Rubber Valley Group and Intellectual Property Publishing House under SIPO. The database covers around 80,000 design patents and a total of 520,000 pictures related to tire tread patterns from various regions including China, Japan, Korea, U.S. and EU. Moreover, with the core technologies of search engine and image contrast, the database can offer similarity result after calculation of all the searchable data.
Updating the database will be done regularly to disclose the latest granted patents related to tire tread designs all over the world.
Using the database to search for the latest patents for tire tread designs Chinese enterprises can not only avoid the risk of possible infringement, but will also learn the latest trend of tire manufacturing technology worldwide.
