Combat against international standard piracy to be strengthened in China

    11/17/2014|EVENTS

In a recent symposium held in Beijing, the International Standard Organization (ISO) expressed acknowledgement to China for its efforts on international standard copyright protection.

According to the Standardization Administration of China ((hereinafter referred to as SAC), SAC has already set up cooperation mechanism with the major websites and relevant governmental network administrative organizations. Since the year 2013, a total of 23 websites were removed for piracy and 2 criminal cases were further prosecuted for criminal liability.

In combatting the international standard piracy, SAC will further cooperate with ISO to explore an international standard promoting and publishing system for Chinese market. SAC will also establish a long-term cooperative mechanism against international standard piracy with the Supreme People's Procuratorate, Supreme People' Court, and Ministry of Public Security.

It is learnt that the international standard Internet piracy is extremely complicated because many of the pirate websites have their target consumers in China while having their servers and payment platforms in other countries. It’s expected that ISO would take a leading role to build a cooperative mechanism among the standardization administrations of all countries against international standard piracy.
