Recently, China Copyright Protection Center launched a new platform providing services for copyright owners to protect their works online. The regulatory rules and procedures of the service were also published.
The platform will provide overall services related to online safekeeping of works, covering application, storage, pick-up, renewal, information publication and fee payments etc.. The whole process of the service will take two days, after which the certificate of registration will be issued to the applicant and information of the work will be published.
It is noted that works of industrial designs, advertisements and those for various competitions are more frequently copied or abused on the internet due to the higher imitability and the lower cost of piracy. Nevertheless, the claiming for legitimate rights against those plagiarized works before courts are tend to be difficult is hard to collect evidences. With the establishment of the platform, the copyright owners who have successfully applied the service will be able to safeguard their copyrights anytime during the creation, utilization and distribution of their works.
