Recently, the Sate Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC) released that a total of 4,433,000 cases related to IP infringement has been handled by the end of September in 2014, a decrease of 37.13% compared to that of the previous year. The total value involved in these cases amounted to over 10 billion RMB, a decrease of 9.87%.
According to the SAIC, of all the 4,433,000 cases 1,735,000 were unlicensed business cases and 309,000 were IP infringement cases. The statistics also show that there was a slight tendency of increase in cases threatening public health and a big increase in the online criminal cases of IP infringement, the total number of the latter reaching 4,763, an increase of 163%.
It’s learnt that SAIC will enforce IP protection in a more rigorous way. More efforts will be taken to strengthen the combat against unfair competition. The punishment for false or misleading use of advertisement and commercial fraud and bribery will be reinforced.
